In order to deal with these problems, the world has introduced strict fuel consumption and emission standards for passenger vehicles. Facing the great challenge of energy saving and emission reduction, how to reduce the energy consumption of automobiles and alleviate the environmental pollution caused by them has become a difficult problem that the automobile industry must solve.

Automotive lightweight can not only reduce the load of power and powertrain, improve the dynamic performance of the vehicle, effectively reduce the braking distance, but also significantly improve the vehicle ride stability and comfort. In addition, the lightweight design of the body has important practical significance to improve the economy, environmental protection and power performance of the vehicle. At present, one of the important ways of automobile body lightweight is to use lightweight and efficient composite parts.

Composite material is a new material which is prepared by two or more different materials through physical or chemical means and has better properties than its own composition material. Long glass fiber reinforced PP product is a modified plastic material. The material is usually 12 mm or 25 mm in length and about 3 mm in diameter of columnar particles. Applications in the automotive industry: front end frame, body door module, dashboard frame, cooling fan and frame, battery carrier, etc., used to replace reinforced PA or metal materials.


Because of its wide application, the research on the production process and properties of PP composites becomes particularly important. According to different performance requirements, product structure, process characteristics and other conditions, the production requirements of PP composite materials are full of diversity.

On the one hand, if the production of general automotive related parts, such as lower guard plate, seat frame, instrument panel, etc., PP composite material is required to provide products with higher aesthetic and mechanical properties. On the other hand, in the production of acoustic insulation parts such as the bottom guard plate of automobile engine, due to the need for the parts to have a certain thickness and porosity to ensure the noise reduction and sound insulation performance of the bottom guard plate, it is required that PP composite material can effectively control the porosity and density of the product structure to a certain extent.

Because thermoplastic composite materials are generally heated after flow molding, according to different process characteristics, in the production process of molding equipment heating temperature, equipment insulation temperature, equipment heating time, insulation time and preheating temperature and preheating time of laminates, temperature drop and cooling control in the process of production are full of changes.

Therefore, for PP composite materials, superior semi-finished product manufacturing process and molding process for the final product production work, has a particularly great significance.
